We love to take our dogs everywhere we go, like most dog owners. They are our kids and we cant leave them home while were out having fun. So when we look for places to stay, pet-friendly is definitely a top amenity.  Agate Beach Motel is not your typical motel. Until you walk into the cottage, you won’t know how truly wonderful it really is.  Agate Beach Motel is a quaint motel with a cottage-like feel, right on the edge of the Oregon Coast.

Histoy

Agate Beach Motel was built in 1940. The current owners bought it in 1990 in a condition that needed a lot of help. Instead of completely tearing it down, they decided instead to restore the motel. All of the carpet and flooring needed to be replaced, the roof needed to be fixed. Over time, they have completely restored the motel. Walking down the stairs to the beach, youll notice have different platforms, where you can stop any enjoy the scenery. Those didn’t happen to by chance. During the remodeling, they faced all kinds of crazy storms that they buit the platforms for workers to have a chance to pause while they were working. Now, its turned into an incredible set of stairs where you can admire the view of Agate Beach.

Location

Located on the cliff above Agate Beach, the location is the best on the Oregon Coast. With 6 direct ocean view cottages, and 4 semi-ocean views, you can wake up and see the ocean right out your window. Private steps take you down to the beach. It has the best location, as its private and off the main road, but super close to downtown, the tide pools, and Yaquina head lighthouse. Historically, surfing started along the Oregon Coast in Agate Beach. This continues to be a popular spot for surfers, as we saw many in and out of the water, even in February.

Amenities

Some of our favorite amenities include free wifi, full kitchen or kitchenette, outdoor fire-pit, locally roasted coffee and tea in the rooms, free dvds, fireplaces in the rooms, and pet-friendly rooms. There are also 2 rooms that are completely no pets allowed. Each room has its own front deck with chairs to sit and enjoy the view. The kitchens have everything you could need, including coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The bathrooms include organic personal products from Dani Naturals, and even a heater in the bathroom!

Along with awesome amenities in all of the rooms, the staff is beyond friendly. The first night we were there, we were lucky enough to have clear sky, which doesn’t happen to often at the Oregon Coast, especially in February. We had a gorgeous sunset and the staff was gracious enough to build us a campfire, including S’mores! Its always enjoyable when the staff goes above and beyond to make the guests happy!

Suites

There are two different types of suites: premier and standard. Premier have direct ocean views, full kitchens, and a carport. Standard includes a queen bed, fully furnished kitchenette, private deck, bathtubs and partial ocean view. While the premier may sound like its better, the standard suites have their benefit too, including a bathtub, unlike the premier suites. Although the rooms all have the same layout, no 2 rooms are alike. The rooms are constantly being remodeled, as they were remodeling when we were there.

Pet-friendly

If you’re a dog-lover, this is the perfect spot for you to bring your dogs (or just hang out with other dogs). The motel provides dog dishes, treats, poop bags, and couch covers. The motel has a grassy-area overlooking the beach, perfect for the dogs. Its only a few steps down to the beach, where it is pretty much secluded from most other beach-goers, so its the ideal spot to let your dog off leash and get some exercise. Another great dog-friendly hotel in Oregon that we love is Wall Street Suites in Bend.

**There is a dog fee of $20/day with a $50 maximum per dog. The weight restriction is 70 lbs and only 2 dogs per room. **

Find available rooms

Summer time is a popular time at the Oregon Coast. Make sure you reserve early if you plan to come during the summer, or during holidays. If you’re heading to the Oregon Coast, we highly recommend a stay at Agate Beach Motel. Quiet ocean views, pet-friendly, and close to town, you can’t go wrong with Agate Beach Motel. If you have plans to visit the Oregon Coast soon, you can book directly or through here.

This motel sounds and looks fabulous! I especially love how friendly and accommodating the staff were – sweet how they built you a campfire! I definitely think customer service makes all the difference!

What a great spot! I’ve found that Newport and south have the best little finds like this for a getaway, and much fewer people than the northern coast. We’ll be heading down the coast this summer and may have to stay in Newport instead of Florence. Hmmm… choices.

We did a coastal trip years ago, and the one thing that has stuck with me is the beauty of the Oregon coastline. We’ve talked about doing it again, and this place sounds perfect. That view is incredible!

What an enchanting place by the beach. I am really enamoured by the fact that one can sit on the lawn and look out at the sea. A wonderful getaway to get lost in the beautiful environs.

As a dog owner, I totally get what you meant. They’re like our kiddos! But the thing is sometimes it is hard to get a place that pet-friendly, so I usually have my sister’s help to look out for them at home. Oregon is indeed a natural beauty rich place, to begin with. Such a beautiful place for a retreat. I personally like over the hill place, because the view is totally amazing! If you love beaches then you gotta love Bali. The tropical island that has a lot of beautiful beaches! You should really visit Bali. Leave the accommodation to us, because we have the villa that just perfect for you. Please do visit our website to learn more. Thank you!
