How to choose the best snorkeling mask?

There are some obvious pros of having your own snorkel mask, one being you don’t have to use a snorkel mask that many other people have used, and two, you’ll have one that fits you right and is comfortable. To choose the best snorkel mask for you, we recommend looking for a few things when trying snorkel masks.

Fitting your snorkel mask

If the snorkel mask doesn’t fit you properly and is uncomfortable, you will not want to wear it. It is important to measure correctly and get the correct size, so that it fits your face correctly. The mask should seal on your face tightly to prevent water from leaking in. The full face snorkel mask skirt, which is what provides a good seal against your face, should be a quality material. If the snorkel mask doesn’t fit correctly, you’ll most likely have water leaking in, which is super annoying.

Lens quality

Masks have either a single, twin or even multiple lens configurations as well as various lens shapes. Special coatings can be applied to the lens so it is scratch resistant. The single lens masks present no frame across the bridge of the nose. Multiple lens masks feature a window pane to either side of the mask, which gives you better peripheral vision.

Full face snorkel mask vs. traditional snorkel and mask

One of the main reasons people are liking the full face snorkel mask more than tradtional snorkel and mask set is because they let you breathe out of your mouth and nose, naturally. Since you don’t have to put the snorkel piece in your mouth, your breath is natural, keeping your breathing relaxed and calm. The full face mask also have way less fogging. The full mask covers your full face and has separate chambers for air which prevents the fogging that traditional snorkel masks tend to get. The full face snorkel masks are not made for diving. Decide what kind is best for you though, some people feel a little too snug with the full face snorkel mask. We have found that the full face snorkel mask tend to be easier for beginners or for kids, as the breathing is more natural.
