If you’re dreaming of a tropical paradise that combines lush mountains, turquoise lagoons, and vibrant Polynesian culture, Moorea should be at the top of your list. Just a short ferry ride from Tahiti, Moorea is a gem of French Polynesia that offers the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. If you only have 3 days in Mooorea, here’s how to make the most of your time on this stunning island.

Here’s how to spend 3 days in Moorea:
Day 1: Island Exploration & ATV Adventure
Morning: Start your day with an ATV Tour
Kick off your Moorea adventure with an exhilarating ATV tour. We had such a fun time on this ATV tour, even with some rain! This guided experience takes you deep into the island’s lush interior, where you’ll cruise through pineapple plantations, pass by tranquil rivers, and climb up to some of the best viewpoints on the island. Stops include:
- The Agricultural School for fresh juice and tropical fruit tastings
- Magic Mountain for panoramic views of the lagoon
- Belvedere Lookout, overlooking both Cook’s and Opunohu Bays
With the ATV tour, you get a chance to see parts of Moorea than most people don’t see.

Top Jet and Top Quad Moorea
We loved this ATV tour! Fred was such a fun and engaging guide, and the tour takes you to some amazing viewpoints!

Afternoon: Lunch and Relaxation in Maharepa
After your ATV ride, head to Maharepa for lunch. This small town has several charming restaurants where you can refuel with local Polynesian cuisine. Spend the rest of your afternoon browsing boutiques, relaxing at your hotel, or enjoying a quiet beach nearby. Some top restaurants in this area are Kei’ki and Moz Cafe.
Evening: Sunset Dinner
Wrap up your first day with a romantic dinner overlooking the lagoon. Many resorts and restaurants offer beachfront dining where you can watch the sun dip below the horizon while enjoying fresh seafood and tropical cocktails. But we recommend Moorea Beach Club for a good dinner and sunset.
Day 2: Lagoon Leisure at Coco Beach
Morning: Snorkeling, Swimming and Lunch at Coco Beach on Motu Tiahura
Start your day with a short boat transfer to the dreamy islet of Motu Tiahura, home to Coco Beach. This private island paradise is perfect for a full day of relaxation and lagoon fun. You can spend a few hours here however you’d like, either snorkeling in the clear waters around the motu, lounging on the beach, or enjoying a cocktail in a hammock. The on-site Coco Beach restaurant serves up delicious seafood and local dishes in a laid-back, feet-in-the-sand setting.

Evening: Return and Unwind
After a leisurely day in the sun, return to your hotel to shower, relax, and enjoy a light dinner. We recommend eating at Le Coco d’Isle. You’ve earned a delicious meal and a restful evening after a full day of island bliss.
Day 3: Explore all that Moorea has to offer
Morning: Visit Tiki Village Cultural Center
Explore Moorea’s cultural heritage with a visit to Tiki Village. This recreated Polynesian village offers a glimpse into traditional Tahitian life with artisan workshops, dance performances, and cultural demonstrations.
Afternoon: Hike to Afareaitu Waterfalls and Beach Time
In the afternoon, take a moderate hike to the Afareaitu Waterfalls, where you can enjoy the tranquil sounds of nature and cool off in the refreshing pool. Afterwards, head to Temae Beach, one of the island’s most beautiful public beaches, to soak up the last of the sunshine.
Evening: Farewell Dinner
Celebrate your final night on Moorea with a special dinner. Choose a restaurant with live Polynesian music or a fire dance show for an unforgettable end to your trip.

How to Get to Moorea
The easiest way to reach Moorea is by flying into Tahiti’s Faa’a International Airport (PPT). From there, you can take a 30-minute ferry ride from Papeete to Moorea. Alternatively, a short 15-minute domestic flight is available, though the ferry is much more scenic and cost-effective. We loved taking the ferry both times we visited Moorea.
Where to Stay on Moorea
Moorea offers a range of accommodations for every budget:
- Luxury: Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa or Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort
- Mid-range: Hotel Manava Beach Resort or Hotel Kaveka
- Budget-friendly: There are tons of great Airbnbs and pensions (guesthouses) around the island, especially in Maharepa and Haapiti. We stayed at this one in Punaauia and had a great view!
