Hotel Stevenson : Where to Stay in the Columbia River Gorge
If you’re planning a trip to the Columbia River Gorge and want a stylish, comfortable place to stay that’s close to all the action, Hotel Stevenson is a hidden gem worth checking out. We recently spent a weekend here while hiking waterfalls and wine tasting through the Gorge, and this charming boutique hotel in downtown Stevenson made the perfect home base. The hotel has beautifully renovated rooms and an unbeatable location just minutes from the water, here’s everything you need to know before booking your stay.
Tucked right in downtown Stevenson, Hotel Stevenson is a boutique stay with just 12 uniquely styled rooms, each one with its own personality. The owners, Dave and Terri, have clearly poured their hearts into renovating this space, and it shows in every detail. We loved getting to chat with them during our stay; their passion for the area and the hotel made our experience feel even more personal and memorable.

Hotel Stevenson was transformed and remodeled in 2020, but the building itself has been there since 1909 originally as the Colonial Hotel . Hotel Stevenson is right downtown, with plenty of shops and restaurants to walk to. It’s super close to the river and Stevenson Landing where the cruise ships dock. Plus it’s a convenient hotel in the Columbia Gorge if you’re hiking, wine-tasting, or adventuring in the gorge. Hotel Stevenson was one of the best places to stay in the Columbia River Gorge.
Rooms at Hotel Stevenson
With 12 boutique rooms, on 2 levels, the hotel feels comfy and cozy. There are rooms with full, queen, and king beds, as well as a junior suite with a loveseat. You can see on the website what each room has to offer. Some rooms even have the more picturesque view of the river and Columbia River Gorge. Plus Hotel Stevenson is one of the dog friendly hotels in the Columbia River Gorge. They allow one dog to stay in any of the rooms on the first floor, for an $30/night.
We stayed in Room 10 with a California King bed and walk-in shower, and let me tell you, this was the best bed we’ve ever slept in! It was so comfy, we didn’t want to get out! Plus, there are 2 chairs in a cute little seating area, a small Keurig, a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a great view of the river!

Hotel Stevenson Amenities
Hotel Stevenson has a great little in-house cafe that includes beer, wine, small plates, and appetizers. Plus they’ll even serve you breakfast for an additional price. We didn’t eat dinner there, but we had plenty of beer and wine! And we had a delicious breakfast in the morning, while we took in the views of the Columbia River. Everything we had was so delicious!
