We all know that Portland is known for the craft beer. But it’s not just Portland, all of Oregon has taken craft breweries to a whole new level. There are over 200 breweries throughout Oregon and all of them are good! You won’t have a hard time finding a good brewery nearby when you visit Oregon. Portland currently has the most breweries of any city in the world, and there are plenty of places nearby to visit when youre in Portland. At the recent North American Brewers Association awards, Oregon took home 70 medals (Washington was second with 44). There are so many amazing breweries in Oregon, it’s really hard to narrow it down. Portland Breweries

 

Breakside Brewery

One of the most widely recognized breweries in Oregon, winning multiple beer awards, Breakside Brewery started in Northeast Portland in 2010 and now has expanded to three locations in Portland. Breakside is known for its innovative and diverse beers.

Drink: Breakside IPA or Breakside Pilsner

Locations: Southeast Portland, Northwest Portland, and Northeast Portland

Level Brewery

The head brewers from Ex Novo and Laurelwood started their own farmhouse brewery in NE Portland. Level brewery has 2 acres of tasting room, greenhouse beer garden, and a large outdoor space with games and a hopfield. Food carts are available outside to satisfy your hunger.  Located in Northeast Portland, its a great spot on the way to Multnomah Falls or Hood River.

Culmination Brewery

A newer brewery in Northeast Portland, Culmination Brewery has good beer and a cozy atmosphere. Built with sustainable products and customer satisfaction, Culmination prides itslef on community. They have lots of collaboration, and lots of weird sounding beer, but nothing that won’t strike your fancy. They have snacks and sandwiches available, as well as on Sunday and Mondays local guest restarurants sell their food.

Wayfinder Brewery

Wayfinder Brewery has transformed a century old brick warehouse into a beer and food lovers destination. Their goal is to bring simple and authentic pleasures of the highest quality to Portland. There is seating inside the taphouse, or outside on the deck next to the firepit. Just won best new brewery in Oregon in 2018.

Hood River Breweries

 

Pfriem Family Brewers

Pfriem is a Northwest and Belgian inspired brewery and tasting room in Hood River. Pfriem is best known for its artisanal beers influenced by the great brewers of Belgium and the homegrown roots of the Pacific Northwest. Has a great view of the Columbia River, and a nice patio and firepit for enjoyment.

Drink: pFriem Pilsner or Down Under IPA

Ancestry Brewery

A family brewery, Jeremy and his dad started Ancestry together to fulfill their dreams. A tap room with 5 TV screens, and outdoor seating (bring your dogs!) with a view of the wetlands. Ancestry has around 20 beers on tap, all from their own brewery, and wine and food available. They are working on new beers all the time and every beer is made with love and care!

Smockville Brewhouse

Shannon, the owner and chef of Trees Restaurant has opened a new brewpub, in Sherwood. The head brewer, Keith, has been perfecting beers from his home for years, and now he can brew for the public at Smockville. All the beers are 100% local and hand crafted. Also food menu, happy hour and wine available.

Drink: The flooded basement pale

Ridgewalker Brewery

Long time friends brought their dreams of opening a brewery to life, in their hometown of Forest Grove, where they originally met. Ridgewalker Brewery has a mix of their own beers and other great local beer, and also wine, kombucha, and cider. Lots of great food options are available as well.

Salem Breweries

Salem Ale Works

Founded by two college friends and former wildland firefighters, Salem Ale Works was created in 2013. After lots of growth, they have expanded to a building nearly 5 times the original size. They honor the history of Salem, handcrafting the beers in small batches using fresh and local ingredients. Lots of seating available, a full menu, 14 taps featuring the latest brews and 2 guest ciders, plus wine is available.

Drink:  The Hootenanny Honey Basil

Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 12pm-10pm, Friday and Saturday 12pm-11pm, Sunday 12pm-8pm (minors allowed until 9pm)

Oregon Coast Breweries

 

Fort George Brewery

Fort George brewery is set on the former site of Fort Astoria, the birthplace of Oregon. Located near the water in Astoria, there is a lot of space to hang out. They have recently expanded, with two stories and an entire city block.  Upstairs is an open warehouse with amazing stone oven pizza. Canned beers are available at various places around the Northwest.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 12pm-11pm

 

Pelican Brewing Co.

Pelican Brewing started in Pacific City in 1996, as the only beachfront brewery in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Pacific City is the home of Pelican brewing, but there also brewpubs in Tillamook and Cannon Beach. Visit for an incredible beachfront view of the Oregon Coast and great beer to go along.

Drink: Kiwanda Cream Ale or Five Fin Pilsner

Location: 3 locations along the Oregon Coast but we recommend the original in Pacific City

Bend Breweries

 

Goodlife Brewing

The Goodlife Brewery opened in Bend in 2011, but became the first brewery in Bend to can beer. Goodlife beer can be found in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Hawaii, and Vermont.

Drink: Descender IPA or Sweet As! Pacific Ale
